Adventure Training
Within the Corps there are plenty of opportunites to participate in Adventure Training. This takes many forms, from simple map and compass work to expeditions lasting several days.
Cadets are trained in the various skill require to take part in these activites. These skills include:
- Map reading
- Using a compass
- Pitching a Tent
- Camp cooking
- How to pack a rucksack
- Route planning
- Hill walking
The Squadron has use of an adventure training centre in the mountains of Wales, that is used regularly.
The Air Training Corps is one of the biggest organisations that participates in the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme. Thus there are plenty of opportunites for a cadet to gain a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
